In  September I welcomed my first group of Canadian cyclists to Cycle d’Oc guesthouse. They stayed for a week here after having already been cycling in the Pyrénées for a week and what a great group of guests they were!

Andy, Holly, Dan  and Anita live on the islands of the Great Lakes of South Eastern Canada and they try and come to ride here in the South of France every early Autumn. I took them on a guided ride once and for the other days, we loaded some of my favourite routes for them onto their Garmin devices, using GPX files from the Strava cycling App. They took off in the morning on their road bikes, after a good breakfast, and were gone most of the day , taking in the views and sites of the region and stopping for lunch in a pretty village along the way.

They told me that they loved , not only the brilliant cycling in this region with it’s quiet, safe roads but also the whole Cycle d’Oc experience , with the great accomodation, pool , great food and balmy, warm evenings spent sitting on the patios of the guesthouse.

We have become friends , I keep in contact with them back in Canada and I am so looking forward to seeing them when they return again next year!
